Ancestor Projector
This structure is built to receive light, and to evoke the spectral presence of lineage. It’s formed from two circular bamboo discs inspired by traditional Vietnamese moon gates—architectural symbols of welcome and continuity. Add light and the shifting interplay of flickering shadows forms a monochrome dance that recalls early cinema.
Ephemeral shapes emerge – strange silhouettes that seem to hover at the edge of recognition. Are they ancestors? Ghosts? Or simply the mind’s attempt to locate the past in the present?
The work plays with the ambiguity of ancestral presence: like memory, the shadows shimmer and slip; not answers, but a portal.
