“The Gift”

Description

5 × 5 cm | Split bamboo on woven mat

The Gift is a sculptural series exploring bamboo’s abundance through miniature structural studies. Each piece is a quiet meditation on the geometry of nature—paraboloids, curves, and arcs—woven into intimate forms that hover between architecture and offering. Inspired by Robin Wall Kimmerer’s writing on gifts and humility, these works are rooted in the idea that bamboo, so plentiful yet so versatile, is itself a gift—one that calls us into gratitude.

In these models, split bamboo becomes both structure and spirit. The forms are experimental, yet grounded in deep respect for material and environment. They ask: What if we built not for dominance, but for relationship? What if every curve of our craft was a thank-you?
